Her obvious compassion and empathy for her patient, whom she had known for a very short time, was readily apparent.
My husband was involved in a work-related accident and was crushed by a piece of equipment weighing well over 1,000 pounds. We spent 3 1/2 weeks in the ICU and had amazing staff. Many nurses stood above and beyond, but I must say that Holly did an outstanding job at making us both as comfortable as possible. She truly treated my husband as if he were one of her own family members. Even on the days that she wasn’t assigned to take care of him, she came in and checked on us and asked if she could do anything or get me anything. I stay cold all the time, and with my husband running a fever, they had to keep his room cold. She went out of her way to make me hot tea one evening before she went home and even brought me hot chocolate packets the next morning when she came in, so I would have something warm for the following night. When bathing him, she took her time and attempted to make him smell great for us. One evening I was sitting down in the cafeteria eating and I heard someone say “hey lady” - I looked up and it was Holly. She was on her way home but saw me sitting there and came over to check on me. I told her we were supposed to be transferring out the following day, and she made sure to tell me not to leave without telling her bye and gave me a hug. She really is an amazing nurse, actually just an amazing person overall! She truly deserves to be recognized for her hard work and caring/compassionate personality!

Our father was admitted to the hospital with significant burns from a fire late in the evening. When he woke the following morning following initial burn treatment procedures, he was alarmed not to have my brother or me present. Holly Googled me until she found a national customer service number for my company, tracked me down through that number (which was unlikely to work!), and notified us of his condition. She lifted his spirits immensely, and even when not assigned to him, she popped in to say hello and immediately elicited a smile. She came in on his final day to pay her respects. Her obvious compassion and empathy for her patient, whom she had known for a very short time, was readily apparent. My brother and I are eternally grateful for the lengths she went to care for him while he was on her floor.
