When I first arrived at Einstein Medical Center Elkins Park as a per diem nurse, Holly Simon oriented me to her Critical Care Unit. She welcomed me warmly and took the time and patience to introduce me and show me around her unit. She is an excellent preceptor/teacher, and continues to better herself by furthering her education. Over time in her unit, I have observed her consistently demonstrate compassion for her patients and their family members. As a critical care nurse with many years of experience, you can recognize the exceptional nurses. And hands down, Holly is one of them. She is highly respected by all health care team members who value her opinions, and she is definitely a role model. On the unit she is a staff leader and resource person. This organization is lucky to have such an exceptional nurse. She is someone I would want to care for my family member. I believe Holly should be honored with this prestigious recognition. She is truly an asset to this unit.

Holly was very kind and gentle. Not only did she make sure my grandmother was comfortable she also made sure our concerns were heard and reassured us she was in good hands. She has a nurturing personality. This is the second time my grandmother has been admitted to the hospital and both times were a beautiful experience. I remember during the first hospitalization when my grandmother had a complaint about something, Holly apologized and took care of it right away, plus she reassured us it would never happen again. On the second admission, Holly met my grandmother and us with a warm, welcome, let us know that she would make sure my grandmother would be well taken care of, and she was. This is why we nominate Holly Simon for this award.
