Holly instantly had my full trust and respect right away, and I instantly felt comfortable in her care.
I came to the hospital with a GI bleed, and I was set for surgery at 10 am on Sunday morning. Holly was my nurse. She was on call and was called in on a Sunday. She introduced herself with a smile with full confidence and friendliness. I am a retired fire fighter and medic of 25 years, and I can pick up on good bedside manner within the first seconds of an introduction. At the end of my career, I was a National Registry tester for Paramedics and EMTs. I Could tell if a student had confidence as soon as they entered the room and could tell if they had what it would take to pass within 30 seconds. Holly instantly had my full trust and respect right away, and I instantly felt comfortable in her care.

She listened to my story. I am unfortunately disabled due to a fall at work, and she took the time to pay extra attention to my special needs. She explained the procedure in detail and answered all of the questions that I was nervous about. She reassured me that I was safe and that she would be by my side throughout the whole procedure.

Upon waking from my procedure, Holly was right there, just like she had said she would be. She reassured me again that things were okay and kept me calm. She kept chatting with me while finishing up paperwork and then transferred me back to the care of the staff assigned to my room.

I know how hard RNs work to take care of patients, I spent 25 years in the field running 911 calls. If I could have chosen my own medic partner over those years, Holly would have been on top of my list. She did a great job. I know I am just one patient, and I am just one small voice, but I am going to say really really loud Holly deserves this award! Thank you for your time.
