For a second consecutive year, the HBPC Team recognized the incredible dedication and tireless work of HBPC Veterans' Caregivers during November's National Family Caregivers Month. These Caregivers' selfless dedication allows HBPC Veterans to remain in the comfort of their home while receiving interdisciplinary home-care. The team-wide effort took months of preparation. Medical Media created a touching card in which HBPC staff wrote each Caregiver personal handwritten notes of affirmation, encouragement, and tribute. HBPC staff collaborated to assemble and deliver over 200 personalized cards and bags during home visits. Caregivers voiced sincere appreciation of this well-deserved recognition commenting, "It feels nice to be noticed." "This feels as good as a hug!"
This Caregiver acknowledgment project demonstrated the staff's true compassion for both Veterans and Caregivers. It enhanced an environment of trust and respect, leading to improved collaboration between HBPC staff and Caregivers who felt validated and respected for all their efforts. Caregivers realized the Team's sincerity and caring, not only for the Veteran but for them as Caregivers. Most importantly, Caregivers realized they are supported and not alone.
