The Home Health Team was awarded the DAISY Team Award for their collaboration in nursing care to meet the needs of the Special Category Residences (SCR). The SCRs are a distinct group of "Cuban Exile Employees" who worked on Naval Station Guantanamo Bay prior to the gate closure in the 1960s in a variety of jobs supporting base operations. While 16 SCRs still live on the installation, The Home Health Team has the honor to care for six of them in the Department of Defense's only Home Health Facility. The average age of the SCRs cared for by the Home Health Team is 84. The Home Health Team is comprised of Military, Civilian, and Foreign National Nurses who are dedicated to providing around-the-clock basic nursing care to the SCRs.
