February 2024 Honoree
Hong Hong, RN
After being admitted as an inpatient, I was in tremendous pain. An NG tube had been placed in the ER with hopes that my belly could be decompressed, and I wouldn't have to have surgery. The following day the tube was clamped after a diagnostic study was performed. That evening I began experiencing quite a bit of abdominal pain. I was offered pain medication, but I knew something was wrong. I asked for Hong Hong who came in and truly listened to me and my complaints. She assessed me and put my NG back to suction. Just short of 2000 cc's were removed and I experienced great relief. I am an RN and I know we aren't the best patients to care for. Hong was responsive to me, listened to me and took my complaints seriously. She knew what to do and took care of me. Excellent care, excellent listening skills, excellent nurse.
Thank you, Hong, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
