Hope assisted Ms. N throughout most of her pregnancy. She focused on helping her stay hydrated because she had a lot of nausea, especially when drinking water. Hope made a call to her OB's office and was told Ms. N could drink flavored waters without the artificial sweeteners, along with taking her prescribed Protonix and Zofran. Ms. N was unaware it was waiting for her at the pharmacy. Hope informed her of the medications at the pharmacy. She immediately went to pick up the medication and started taking it. Within days she had relief. After she got past the sickness, Hope was able to help prepare the member for a healthy full term pregnancy. Ms. N worked a grocery store part-time and wasn't able to afford most of the baby items. Hope was able to help Ms. N get approved with Sleep Tight to obtain a Pack and Play and she completed the car seat class to get the free car seat now that her nausea was under control. Hope was able to get Ms. N to agree that breastfeeding would benefit mom and baby. Hope sent her several resources to help with learning more about the benefits and techniques of breastfeeding but Ms. N didn't want to take a breastfeeding class. About 2 months prior to delivering she finally said the magic words, "Let's order my breast pump!" From that moment on, every conversation was about breastfeeding and foods she that she would be limiting and etc. Finally, Hope received a phone call around 3 pm from Ms. N stating, " I did it, I had my baby" She stated little miss T had latched on perfectly and was doing well. Ms. N stated she had just had her baby around 1 pm and had to let Hope know how all the talks and teaching really prepared her for labor and breastfeeding. Hope also spoke with her L&D nurse who stating " Ms. N kept saying I have to call Mrs. Hope, and I kept asking who that was and if she was a family member" Ms. N informed her that Hope was with Optima and had been assisting her with her health and wellbeing throughout the pregnancy. The nurse had no idea that Optima did anything like this and stated the baby latched on so well that the Lactation nurse thought Ms. N had breastfed before. Ms. Nelson replied, "Nope I had Mrs. Hope!"
