Hope eased my anxiety by explaining everything to me and never made me feel stupid or embarrassed for asking questions.
My son was recently a patient at All Children's and all the nurses were great, but the one that really stands out to me is Hope. She gave my son so much love and care. She hyped him up as the cutest baby to other nurses and she always made him smile and laugh.
What really meant the most to me was that she cared for me as well. I am an adult nurse and I know what to do with an adult, but a baby? My own baby? I was terrified! Hope eased my anxiety by explaining everything to me and never made me feel stupid or embarrassed for asking questions. I would have been a lot more anxious without Hope.
What I will never forget is that she made me feel comfortable enough to approach her for advice on what to do with my son. The doctors were ready to discharge him, and I just wasn't sure he was ready. After a disagreement with my husband about what to do, Hope let me vent to her and ask for advice. She ultimately made me feel like my feelings were valid and reassured me that if I wasn't comfortable, the hospital wasn't going to push me out. I cried to her and she never made me feel embarrassed about it. I will always be thankful for how she eased my anxiety in such a worrisome time. Hope embodies everything a nurse should be...compassionate and kind...caring to the whole family, not just the patient. While my son is too young to remember, I will never forget.
