Mr. Hossam affects on Patient experience outcome through this story: A regular haemodialysis patient was having congestion and overloaded at home. The patient arrived at the hospital ER, and the internal medicine physician examined him. The physician requested to have an urgent haemodialysis session. It was on the off-duty day of the dialysis unit. So, the nursing supervisor will contact the on-call haemodialysis staff who is another person. The patient requested to contact only Mr. Hossam as he is the one who can insert the needle fistula to him as he is difficult with AFV cannulation.
The supervisor contacted Mr. Hossam and he agreed to attend although, he was off duty and it was not his turn for on call schedule. The patient had a positive experience in the hospital and dialysis unit. Mr. Hossam plays an important role in an Interprofessional plan of care to ensure coordination of care through his initiation in supporting ICU while starting haemodialysis in ICU. He did specific haemodialysis competency for 10 staff in ICU. He did frequent sessions for all staff on how to operate the machine and deal with machine alarms.
He dedicated being on call any time to ICU staff if they faced any problem with the machines. He tried to solve the problem by physically attending even if he was off duty. He acts as a preceptor and a mentor. He i a role model . He did structure for the competency to enculturate the new standard of care for the new staff. The outcome of that appeared in the staff knowledge and practice. Mr. Hossam became a reference for his colleagues in the unit as he supports his knowledge by the evidence.
