When my mother moved from the ICU, I expected a lower level of care and compassion. Much to my delight, my mother's nurse, Howard, totally exceeded my expectations. He immediately put my mother and me at ease with his kindness, compassion and bedside manner.
As my mother's advocate, he took care of me and my needs just as wonderfully as he did for her. He made sure to explain everything he was doing and medications he was giving and why! He also made sure I was well informed of the "steps to come" every few hours i.e. vitals, labs, medications, therapies, etc.
I simply could not rest until I took the time to thank Howard and acknowledge his superior gifts and talents and obvious passion for his profession. Thanks, Howard!
