Hsieh-Chen Wang was my nurse after an open-abdominal surgery. She educated me about all aspects of my recovery and worked with me to see that I was getting exactly what I needed. She made sure I understood what my pain medication options were, how they worked and how they were different.
When I was struggling with oral pain medication and nausea, Hsieh-Chen gave me insightful advice on eating enough to help soothe my stomach. She helped determine that the oral medicine I was on was not a good fit for me and she worked with the doctor to get me on a different medicine which made a huge difference in my comfort level.
After a blown IV, I had a long wait for the IV team to try to get IV pain medication and anti-nausea medication. Hsieh-Chen got a temporary IV going until the team arrived, just to give me relief. She would get me juice when she saw my potassium levels were low and I have continued taking the advice she gave me while recovering at home. Hsieh-Chen always made me feel like I was her primary concern and only patient. I did not have to wait when I called her. She was always right there and never made me feel like she was rushed or had anything more important than what my needs were. She made me feel like I was family to her.
Hsieh-Chen Wang was professional, skilled, sensitive, comforting and so very compassionate. She is the definition of a DAISY Nurse.
