Hunter Glenn, RN
My mother had been in constant pain and unable to sleep for 72 hours. She had to have emergency surgery. Since that morning, I had remained by her side, helping care for her. I hadn't slept either, and I never felt like I could truly "turn off."
When Hunter came on shift at 7:00 p.m. on the fifth day of my mother and me being in the hospital, everything changed. From the moment he walked into the room, he brought a calm, peaceful presence. His demeanor immediately eased the anxiety that had filled the room. I was struck by how attentively he listened, not only to my mother, but also to me and the other nurses caring for her.
Hunter recognized the importance of medications my mother had been unable to tolerate by mouth. He administered anti-nausea medication and gave her sleep medication through her NG tube. Something no one else had considered. That simple yet thoughtful intervention made an incredible difference.
Throughout the evening, Hunter cared for my mother with extraordinary compassion. He stayed with her for hours, gently gave her a cool bath, changed her linens, kept the lights dim, spoke to her with kindness and clarity, offered her ice chips, and checked on her consistently throughout the night without disturbing her rest.
For the first time in five days, I was finally able to relax and get some sleep because I knew she was in capable, compassionate hands. I trusted him completely.
Hunter embodies the very best of holistic nursing care. He didn't just care for my mother's physical needs; he cared for me. He saw me not only as a caregiver, but as a daughter who was exhausted, worried, and running on empty.
As an ordained minister and former hospice chaplain, I have spent years comforting others through some of life's most difficult moments. Yet during this experience, I found myself without words to pray. Through Hunter's kindness, patience, gentleness, and quiet compassion, he became the hands and feet of Christ to our family. God's healing presence was reflected through the way he served us.
I will never forget the gift of peace he gave us during one of the hardest times of our lives. Our family is profoundly grateful for Hunter and the exceptional care he provided.
