I was truly impressed by the compassionate care I received from Hunter. We discussed that he was a newer nurse and only on his own for roughly five months. I've been a nurse for four and a half years, and I can see his progression, only getting stronger, and positively impacting those he works with. I had back surgery and an extremely hard time coming out of anesthesia and other meds that were given, but Hunter genuinely cared and stayed with me for two hours, making sure I was set up. Miserable is an understatement; I couldn't stop uncontrollably crying from a medication I was given, but Hunter made sure I felt safe and constantly used words of encouragement to get me through. My parents were also very impressed, even more so after I told them that Hunter was a newer nurse. He treats his patients with respect, tries to set up a plan of care that everyone agrees on, and will be the patient's advocate to make sure the patient is progressing positively. Even with all the other patients he had to care for, I never felt like he was rushed, but that I had his devoted attention to my care. In that moment, I had him as a nurse for two consecutive days, plus both days were exceptional. He pushed me in all the ways I needed to be, to get better. I know his career as a nurse will only continue to flourish and blossom with the more practice he gets. He came into this profession for all the right reasons.
