Ms. Hwa Min Yi, or Nurse Jasmine, is one of the best nurses I have ever had the pleasure to work with as an Army Pediatrician. I have witnessed her giving many vaccinations to children with the most compassion and kindness I only see with newborn mothers. She uses her own money to purchase things such as toys and stickers to distract children while she gives them injections. Nurse Jasmine even learned how to make balloon animals for them! She told me that she tries to make the children believe that the clinic is a fun or funny place so that they don't associate it with painful memories. I think it works because they always happen to come back happy! Nurse Jasmine once told me a fantastic story, and I wish I could find the family so that they could tell you more about it. A couple of years ago, this autistic child came to the immunization clinic at Camp Walker for required vaccinations. Her parents were worried because their child has a well-known history of throwing temper tantrums after receiving shots. They warned Nurse Jasmine that their child would scream and cry loudly, in addition to making a mess of the room. Nurse Jasmine took the time to listen to their concerns and sang and danced and watched videos with the child first. Nurse Jasmine then gave the vaccines to the child without any issues. The parents were astonished. This is only one of many children who have benefited from Nurse Jasmine's acts of kindness and compassion.

Ms. Hwa Min Yi "Nurse Jasmine" is what I picture as the ideal nurse. She is professional and brilliant. Her medical skills and knowledge are amazing, and she is extremely thorough. If her name is attached to anything, you know it was done right. She loves patient care, and her motto is "Cause no further harm" and she lives by it. Nurse Jasmine holds herself to a high standard and she also holds her coworkers to those standards. The staff here love working with her. The patients love her as well. There are many patients requesting to get screened by her. Kids will come by and want to say hi to her.

Nurse Yi embodies a blend of pride and ownership in her approach to patient care, elevating the standard of excellence within our medical team. She consistently demonstrates unwavering dedication. Regardless of the task at hand, for which there are many, Nurse Yi approaches it with a sense of ownership. Patients are quick to recognize and appreciate Nurse Yi's exceptional commitment. Many of my patients have stated that their experience in our clinic has been phenomenal, largely because of their interactions with her. As a doctor, I have found Nurse Yi's prideful approach not only inspiring but also immensely beneficial, as it lightens my workload and allows me to focus more effectively on complex medical decisions.
