Magnet Status is the highest honor awarded by the ANCC and nationally recognizes nurses’ ability to provide quality patient care and initiate innovations in their professional nursing practice. Achieving and maintaining Magnet designation results in empowered and engaged nurses which research shows us creates better patient outcomes.
Achieving IAH’s first ever Magnet designation was a huge undertaking and could not happen without the support and dedication of the Magnet Champions team. This team of nurses was from all across IAH and served many ways:
• Educators, setting up Magnet boards on units and sharing facts and stories to educate their colleagues,
• Escorts during the site visit for the Magnet appraisers, ensuring we all adhered to the schedule
• Room coordinators during site visit, setting, cleaning and resetting rooms over and over again so the room was prepared for the appraiser's arrival and interviews
• Promoters and supporters of all things Magnet!!!
These Champions made the site visit a HUGE success! They attended conference, support initiatives and will continue to lead their teams in process improvement to prepare for our re-designation. We could not be more proud of their work and look forward to all the wonderful things to come. Thank you Magnet Champions for showing what is best about IAH Nursing!
