His ability to anticipate what care was needed and the direct and compassionate communication with our Dad was so much appreciated.
Many many THANKS to Ian! I felt that Ian's distinct way of communication truly helped our Dad. It was a very traumatic and confusing time for all of us, but most especially him. Having a truly caring positive and no-nonsense nurse that communicated effectively, patiently, and treated our Dad with respect humor and compassion truly made such a difference! I can't pinpoint one exact scenario or event to mention just that all the interactions with our dad - who can sometimes be very difficult to understand/articulate were smooth and compassionately heard. Ian brought upbeat energy that imbued everyone with confidence and ease. His ability to anticipate what care was needed and the direct and compassionate communication with our Dad was so much appreciated. Pre-surgery Ian provided a grounding calmness to a very stressful and frightening event Post-surgery. Dad was very lucky to have Ian help attend to him in the latter days of his time at the hospital. I could tell that how Ian explained processes and reasons for tests and medications and answered questions - that Dad resonated with his care and it calmed him greatly to know he was being looked after so diligently! All the nurses were fantastic at North Memorial - but I felt Ian had an especially positive effect on our Dad's well-being and sincerely want to say THANK YOU!!! from all of our family -for your care and humanity and gifts of healing! Also, a giant thank you to your peers at North Memorial!
