Ian Engard demonstrates what nursing integrity, compassion, and excellence are. Every patient he cares for and sees is treated as if they were his only patient, and all of their concerns are his. His reassurance and kindness are exemplary and demonstrate what all healthcare professionals should strive for in bedside manner.

In addition, he shows great respect to his colleagues and students. I had the pleasure of shadowing him as a nursing student for a few different shifts, and I strive to demonstrate this excellence in my future practice. He is patient, calm, and encouraging, building up our confidence as students to become competent future nurses. Ian lifts up his team with humor and positivity every day. He even assists his colleagues without them asking to lighten their load. He truly represents the integrity and holistic approach of the nursing profession and should be recognized, as he asks for nothing in return.
