I would like to recognize the entire ICU team. I truly cannot choose just one person—every single member of your team made an impact on my family.
My brother was admitted unexpectedly to the ICU and passed away the following week. I flew in from Texas two days after his admission.
I am a nurse at Methodist Healthcare in San Antonio, where our main campus has over 1,000 beds, has received America’s 100 Best Hospitals Award (including Critical Care), is a Best Regional Hospital, and is ranked #9 in Texas and #1 in San Antonio.
I share this not to boast, but to emphasize that I know what excellent patient care looks like—and your team exceeded every expectation.
The ICU nurses were exceptional. They were consistently attentive, responsive, and compassionate. They explained everything clearly to my sister-in-law and nephew—often multiple times—and did so with patience and kindness.
As a nurse myself, I know that having another nurse at the bedside can sometimes add pressure, but they never once made me feel like a burden or an inconvenience.
Steve, NP, was outstanding. He was honest and realistic with the family while still being deeply compassionate. He offered guidance based on what he would do if my brother, Rick, were his own father. That level of empathy is something you never forget.
The physicians were also wonderful—professional, present, and supportive.
Even the housekeepers made a difference. They kept the room clean and always offered kind words and well wishes.
The cafeteria staff was friendly, and the food was surprisingly good and reasonably priced—small things that matter when you’re living in a hospital for days.
My family and I want to express our sincere gratitude to your entire team and to the hospital. In one of the hardest moments of our lives, you cared for my brother with dignity and cared for us with compassion.
