We had a very sad case of domestic violence in the ER in which a sweet child was caught between the parents. Ilia took this child outside and requested the PD officer to turn on his lights so that the child could see them as a distraction from the darkness and trauma he had just witnessed. The child lit up with excitement and joy and bonded with Ilia. On the flip side of the situation, the perpetrator was shortly thereafter brought in for a medical evaluation. Though we were all upset with this person of which was belligerent and agitated with over 10 PD officers here to maintain safety, Ilia shined through with absolute true compassion to ensure efficient care, without the use of sedatives to do so! Ilia shined through in a difficult case. Thank you, Ilia, for being such an inspiration to the rest of your team.
