Imelda demonstrated exceptional caring and professionalism when our neighbor collapsed at my door on the morning of 3 July 2011.
Imelda responded to my calls for help, cared for our neighbor while we waited for the ambulance, put on her abaya, rode in the ambulance even though it was her day off and she needed to wire money home, stayed with our neighbor and cared for her until she passed away.
Imelda had the presence of mind to think to make contact with our neighbor’s family in the Philippines to let them know that the situation was critical.
I think her ability to function in this way showed someone who truly understands what patient care is all about. I know our neighbor knew Imelda was there and I’m sure it gave her great comfort to know that someone truly cared.
Imelda is a credit to her department and the nursing profession.
