From the beginning of this patient's care in the Emergency Room, India was involved with accountability and respect.

She personally walked this patient back to the POD from triage and continued to stay with her, per the patient's request. This patient had been through a very traumatic event, was emotional, and providing very little information due to a mix of pain and shock.

Inida spoke calmly, treated her with dignity and respect, and reassured her that we were here as a team to help her. I watched as she grabbed this patient's hand to give her the quiet and intentional support that she needed in the moment and watched the patient squeeze her hand back.

She escorted and stayed with the patient during CT, during the provider's assessment, and even took her emergently to the OR due to the patient's status worsening. I know that the patient could sense her genuine heart and the equity she would provide her, and that is why she requested India to stay with her.

After dropping the patient off with the OR staff, she returned with the stretcher in tears. The way the patient sustained her injuries is unfathomable, but India was able to remain objective and not let this situation cloud her judgment or care.

This is the kind of nurse we all love to work with and should strive to be.
