I nominate IANA-NC for the DAISY Award in recognition of their commitment to serving the members and community. Below are a few examples of their philanthropic efforts:
Well-being of members - Collaborated with UNC to research Indian Nurses’ occupational determinants of health. The GB consists of the Whole Health committee that implemented “Saturday Strollers” and “Step Challenge”, which improved members’ physical/emotional well-being.
Improved population health - Education sessions provided by experts on topics such as sleep, cardiovascular health, and menopause were well attended by the community. Participated in health fairs and the NAMI walk for mental health awareness.
Compassionate care for the underserved population - Funded disaster relief efforts/medical assistance/scholarships for students. Members volunteered at outreach programs and mobilized resources for refugees through academic partnerships. Professional development through networking avenues/activities that foster engagement/entertainment /team spirit, and quarterly education webinars for Nurses.
In every endeavor, IANA-NC demonstrated that nursing is a profession with a calling to serve.
