My daughter, M, is 6 andwas recently in your hospital about middle of August with a collapsed lung. It was a whirlwind of emotions for me,we were taken by ambulance from New Lenox all the way toyou in the middle of the night. We didn't get a room until very early in the am and my daughter was in so SO much pain. The first set of nurses we met were very sweet, very nice, and helpful. Actually all but 1 nurse were the same way with us. If I asked a question or had a concern I received almost the same response and ALWAYS followed by I will ask the DR. when I see him next......ENTER INGRA!
Ingra not only gave me answers to the questions I asked, but also to ones I didn't even know to ask! If she was unsure about an answer she researched it, called the DR and ALWAYS came back to fill me in. I would start askingquestions just so shewould come back I think she may have caught on tothis, because she would just start randomly appearing at our door! She took the time to play with M, whether it was peek-a-boo through the window next to her door, coloring in her bed or, and this was my daughters favorite (she STILL talks about it), she would let M listen to her heart through her stethoscope. M wants to be a nurse when she grows up she told Ingra she was going to be a nurse for Halloween, soIngrasurprised herwith a stethoscope of her own! M had no words, just smiles and laughter when Ingra gave it to her.
EVERY time Ingra came intoher room, she joked with M.Listened to my daughters knock knock jokes (shewas still trying to get the hang of a knock knock joke) but Ingra didn't care, she would laugh tickle her and follow up with her own joke.Ingra went the extra TEN miles to make us feel comfortable, loved, and special during her shift. We missed her when she left, and even more the next day when she was on another floor. She took care of ME, the mom, kept telling me that if I didn't take care of myself I couldn't take care of my daughter....something I continue to tell myself on a daily basis. She made a call when she found outthat a volunteerhadn't been to M's room to play with her, which allowed me time to go for a walk and grab a coffee. She just went above and beyond. She is a nurse with a huge heart, she LOVES her job, LOVES her patients and her patient's family. Her name has become almost a daily part of our conversations....even if it is to tell the joke she taught my daughter......so for all I have listed, and so much more Ingra, thank you.
THANK YOU for becoming such a huge part of our lives even though you were only in it for 12 hours, you made a HUGE impact on us!
