INSPIRE Cancer Center Infusion Therapy Team
The INSPIRE Wall Experience is a nurse-led project designed to elevate comfort, connection, and education for patients receiving infusion care.
Patients entering the center often arrived with a mixture of fear, uncertainty, and emotional fatigue. During patient comments and caregiver conversations, nurses learned that many struggled with anxiety before treatment even began. They also noticed that small moments of connection—a warm word, an encouraging message, or a simple reminder of hope—dramatically shifted patients' comfort levels.
Guided by direct care nurses and supported by an interdisciplinary group including the Nurse Manager, Assistant Nurse Manager, Medical Assistants, Medical Practice Assistants, Volunteer Staff, and Global Programs Managers, the INSPIRE Wall serves as a living display of compassion.
It is a brightly designed installation featuring the letters I-N-S-P-I-R-E, filled with uplifting message cards handwritten by staff, patients, caregivers, and survivors. The letters are filled by individuals with beads that represent each "Bead of Courage"—symbolizing milestones, treatments, and procedures—creating a visual, tangible record of their bravery and journey.
Patients select bead colors, choose encouragement cards, and share messages that uplift those who will come after them. This collaborative, emotionally supportive initiative transforms the clinic's environment into a space of hope and empowerment.
Patients consistently report reduced anxiety and increased confidence when completing the cards and filling the letters with beads. The INSPIRE Wall Experience enhances not just the treatment, but the environment—turning compassion into something patients can see, touch, and take with them.
