Elena is an amazing nurse. She handles difficult situations with such compassion, competence, and grace. She treats every patient as if they were her own family. There are many recent examples of her dedication to each person she serves but here is one example:
There was recently a new immigrant child who has seizures and has not had an evaluation with neurology. He was not on any seizure medication and the parents were frightened. He was without insurance and his appointment with Riley Neurology was canceled. The family had many barriers to care and they were frightened. Elena immediately started to work to get in contact with pediatric neurology and arranged for an evaluation/medications. She then started to work with the family to have them apply for coverage for his medical care. When a patient experiences obstacles to getting the care they need, you can always count on Elena to jump right in and advocate for the patient until they get what they need. Thank you, Elena.
