From the moment Irene walked into the room, where my husband and I were seated, she tried to understand what our needs were. That moment, we were thirsty and she provided us with some drinks and a sandwich for me, as I was hungry. She explained everything she was going to do, verified my name and ID # on my visit tag, had me repeat my name. On my small eating area was my drinking water bottle and she accidentally dropped it on the floor. I wanted to pick it up but she picked it up swiftly and took it to the sink and proceeded to clean it all around with sanitizing cloths. I can't tell you how much that impressed me, being a very high sanitary and cleanliness advocate and a germaphobe. I felt much more ease knowing I was in good hands. She started preparing infusion through my port. She followed exactly the protocol with the 2nd chemo I received from another nurse, nothing different with the absolute following of every step of the rules and I was watching like a hawk! In the middle of this, she was carrying on a very pleasant and relaxing conversation which made me feel very comfortable. She was both very professional and friendly. She explained the medications clearly. She checked on us every couple of minutes initially. She was very helpful in explaining some solutions to problems I was experiencing with chemo like constipation and she was offering helpful advice. We discussed how thinking positively and being optimistic affects our bodies, emotional situation, pain-discomfort. She was very helpful with her positive attitude and kindness and professionalism and excellent care. She satisfied all of my emotional and physical needs, was very efficient with what she was doing, exhibited great knowledge and skills and experience. I felt really good being there today. I truly appreciate being in her caring hands and would love to be under her care again.
