This was my night shift nurse story. I already mentioned my dayshift nurse in another nomination who was wonderful also. They worked closely together on my wellness journey. Between the two of them I believe they saved my like.

When I came to LKMC needing emergency surgery for a bowel blockage, I thought the day nurse had to be one of a kind, but little did I know as night came on, I was to be surprised by another amazing nurse who kept my spirits up and was a great comfort to me through the dark hours of the night. Joy kept me laughing and reassured me by explaining everything she did for me. She always explained the “what” and “why,” especially of the meds. She always left me feeling much better every visit. Joy gave me confidence that all would be well and that I was OK. To have been given two wonderful nurses who were very closely coordinating my needs was outstanding! The night shift (Joy) talked about ways to make me more comfortable! I hope anyone who has to be hospitalized is given an Angel of Mercy like Joy Pojas to bring comfort, humor, and encouragement to the healing process!
