My 82-year-old father came into the ER in critical condition; several issues, and on top of that, he often Sundowns. He also does not like when he does not see his wife at night, and he’s been a professor his entire life and needs to be told things that are going on to be peaceful. I can’t speak highly enough about our nurse, Irene Lacambacal! We’ve been in and out of hospitals with him for a couple of years, but Irene is exemplary. She understands the sundowning well but also speaks to him appropriately and kindly when he is confused. She is patient with him. She explains every little thing but also truly listens to him. Everything gets handled quickly, and she even does things for him without being asked for help. My family is thoroughly amazed at how she instinctively knows the right things to say and do. Nursing is very excruciating work, but we never hear or see any of the frustration or exhaustion from Irene. I wish I could give her a medal and a million dollars. I cry just thinking about her. We have been extraordinarily blessed to know her. Thank you!
