When my son came to Cardinal Glennon we didn’t know what to expect. My son has sphinx mutation that has caused pancreatitis and for him to be admitted several times since he was 5. It had been 4 years since his last attack and he looked worse than I’d ever seen him. When we arrived, Irene was there. She was on top of things. Telling doctors that he was pale and sweating a lot. She really seemed like she cared. When we finally got admitted about 5 hours later, we made it up to 2N, and there she was again. Irene to the rescue! Once again, she was on top of it. She made sure to ask if we needed or wanted anything. She put my son’s care first and wanted him as comfortable as possible. She talked to him and advocated for him and how he was feeling. We were blessed to have Irene for the next 3 nights. She is such an amazing nurse; she is so knowledgeable and caring. She really puts her all into her job! She 100% deserves this award. She’s off for the weekend and my son is hoping we’re here when she comes back Monday so he can tell her thank you. Oh, and her love for the Grinch is awesome too! We adore you, Irene. Thank you for everything!
