Irene helped a Breast Cancer patient who needed an urgent appointment for the Vascular Surgery clinic. The clinic was extremely overbooked and the process for referral had to be approved through the departmental chairman. The patient needed to be seen immediately as she needed to commence chemotherapy, and this could be delayed due to very poor venous access. She needed a portacath insertion to commence treatment.

Irene facilitated the patient's appointment by approaching the vascular surgeon. She herself added her on the appointment list in the OPD reception. This expedited the process, patient was booked in OR the following week and portacath successfully inserted. Treatment commenced immediately and this totally satisfied the patient. The patient was exceptionally pleased with the optimal services rendered from both the nurse and the organization.

Irene is generally a very helpful, approachable and organized nurse who displays compassion to her patients and colleagues. She strives towards patient and staff satisfaction.
