She was not only attentive and on the ball, as you'd hope in critical care, but she went the extra mile.
I would like to nominate a nurse for a DAISY award. I was on the CCD ward after April 27th, and my post-operative period was looked after by several wonderful nurses, but specifically, I was utterly impressed by the care and attention I received from one nurse, in particular, Irina Bartus. I have previously gotten many surgeries and suffer quite considerably with anxiety and PTSD in clinical environments, but I never felt so safe and looked after as I did in Irina’s care. She was not only attentive and on the ball, as you'd hope in critical care, but she went the extra mile. For example, instead of waiting for me to ask for pain relief, etc., she was checking in on me to see if I was comfortable. Even in the short time she had been looking after me, she realized I tend to say I'm okay when I'm not always. She was happy to talk to me when I needed a bit of company, and she was keen to get a few tips from the doctor when he did his rounds. She is genuinely a great nurse, and I just wanted to do something to recognize this as she was so dignified and humble when I tried to compliment her.
