Here came this nice, tall, young man into our room named Isaac. He was a gentle, most compassionate young man. Isaac was very thoughtful. My fiancé had surgery a couple of days ago, and I had been trying to get him out of bed at least once a day. I was really frustrated and depressed; we have been here about three weeks. I had to keep telling my fiancé, “If you choose to lie in the bed, you have already given up.”
Well, Isaac, the gentle giant, came in and told my fiancé that he needed to see him get out of bed and walk around at least three times. I was like, “Yeah, right.” But Isaac was firm and just told him, “If you start getting up, you’re going to feel better.”
Well, once Isaac left the room, my fiancé took a moment before he said something. He said, “Well, come on, let’s get it out of the way.” I was like, “What?” “Let’s go, I’m ready to walk.” Now, usually we just walk down the hall and come right back. Well, we walked the whole unit. Not once, but twice. The second time we came around, we saw Isaac, and boy, did he smile and give my fiancé a high five. He told him, “You’re looking good. Keep it up.”
My heart just melted because I had been in that room crying and praying, trying to tell him not to give up. Well, today God answered my prayer when the tall, handsome giant came into our room. Thank you, Isaac, for just those encouraging words. Your compassion and kindness light up the room. My fiancé said, “He’s so young and well-mannered and smart, too.” I just smiled at him and said, “Yes, he is, baby.”
God has big plans for Isaac, and our family can’t thank him enough.
