July 2026 Honoree
Isabel Bonilla, RN
My grandmother has been in the hospital for almost 3 weeks, and out of all of the nurses she’s seen, Isabel has by far exceeded all of them, which is saying a lot because the nurses here have been amazing. Isabel always walks in with a smile. She explains everything she’s doing in detail without us even having to ask. She tells my grandmother and our family, who have been here every day, what medications she’s giving, how she’s giving them, any alternative names for the medication, what the medication is supposed to help with, and then explains everything over again as she’s giving the medications to my grandmother. She has gone above and beyond to make my grandmother comfortable. My grandmother often makes herself feel like a burden and sometimes doesn't ask for help, even when she needs it. Isabel immediately recognized this and continuously tells my grandmother that she’s always there to help. When my grandmother says she’s okay, even when it’s obvious she’s not, Isabel suggests things in a way that makes my grandmother feel comfortable accepting help, while most other nurses would just wait for her to ask. She’s gone above and beyond in every aspect of her job as a nurse. She always makes my grandma and family smile whenever she walks in no matter what the situation is she’s made my family, grandmother, and I feel very at ease anytime she’s around. We all trust Isabel very much, and we know she will do whatever it takes to keep my grandma safe and comfortable when we can’t be there.
Thank you, Isabel, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
