During this time Izzy held her hand, was gently stroking her arm to comfort her, and talked her through what was happening in a soothing tone.
Our midwife, Izzy, was incredible throughout the whole labour. Myself and my partner must have told every person we’ve seen since the birth what a superstar she was.
Being our first birth experience, we were both very apprehensive about what to expect, and we were completely put at ease due to how calming, confident, and considerate Izzy was during the birth.
Any little worry that we had was dealt with by Izzy and quickly went away. I personally had what seemed like 1000 questions for her which I’m sure she’s heard numerous times but she answered everything with what was an astounding level of expertise. She also made us feel like all of our concerns were valid whilst helping us to understand the process with explanations rather than just short answers.
Izzy was caring and nurturing throughout. My partner was having a particularly difficult moment whilst the anaesthesiologist was working on her back. During this time Izzy held her hand, was gently stroking her arm to comfort her, and talked her through what was happening in a soothing tone.
For the entire labour experience, we felt like a real 3 person team, all working towards the same goal, with Izzy at the helm, guiding us through, what in the end was an amazing experience.
We are so grateful for the care and support we’ve received from the staff at the UHCW, from the beginning of the ICSI treatment, all through the pregnancy and up to the birth. I really can’t imagine having another baby and not having Izzy as our midwife, she is an absolute credit to the hospital and to the NHS.
