Isaiah Sanchez consistently demonstrates a "go-getter" attitude and a work ethic that far exceeds the standards for a student nurse. However, it was his clinical vigilance and rapid response during a 4 Am assessment on the MED-SURD unit that truly defined his potential as a future nurse. During the quietest but most critical hours of the night shift, he went into a patient's room to perform a routine vital signs check  and discovered that the patient had removed their nasal cannula. The patient was profoundly hypoxic with an O2 saturation of 65%. Despite the patient's confusion and initial refusal to replace the oxygen, he remained calm, professional, and persistent.

What set him apart in this moment was his immediate recognition of a life-threatening emergency.  Isaiah didn't hesitate or wait for instructions; he jumped into action by alerting both the primary and charge nurse. His quick thinking ensured that the patient received immediate intervention before respiratory arrest occurred.
He didn't realize it at the time that he essentially saved a life! Isaiah's actions during the night shift were the epitome of nursing excellence. He balances an eagerness to learn with a fierce commitment to patient safety.

Thank you, Isaiah, for your exceptional compassion, advocacy, and dedication to your patients. You truly make a difference.
