Ivan Diaz, RN

My father received excellent care during his stay on Hematology and Med/Oncology units. He subsequently passed away in hospice care. Ivan, the night shift nurse, was super attentive to my father and took the time to get to know him. He also observed that our family had requested dixie cups of ice from the kitchen so we could celebrate my dad’s life with an ice cream party. He then started asking if we ever experienced SDSU ice cream and we had not. The following evening Ivan showed up with two large cartons of SDSU ice cream. This brought my father and our family so much joy. He even made a point to tell his hospice house nurses how much this meant to him and that it was the best ice cream he had ever had in ninety-two years! It was so SMOOTH! Ivan went above and beyond to share the love with our father and our family.
