Ivy's kind tone and her compassion were overwhelming. I had just gotten sick in the middle of the night and went on to sleep like a baby knowing Ivy was watching over me.
Tuesday night, my angel walked in. Ivy came in like a true ray of sunshine. She introduced herself. We chatted and immediately I knew she would be watching over me as I slept. In the middle of the night, I got sick. I had vomited. Ivy was on her break but it was like she knew something was wrong with me. She had left her lunch to run by my side. She cleaned me up. She held my hand, she calmed down, she assured me I was ok, and she put me back in bed. She tucked me in and told me, what she had just proved to me, that she was there if I needed her. Her kind tone and her compassion were overwhelming. I had just gotten sick in the middle of the night and went on to sleep like a baby knowing Ivy was watching over me. It had been a roller coaster of back and forth with my treatment. I need surgery. I don’t need surgery. Things were very confusing for me but Ivy was there to help me sort it all out. To explain everything to me. She was there to translate all the information into terminology I could understand. She never brushed me off. If she had to walk out, she came back to finish any conversation she was having with me. In the morning I had to get a CAT scan. Ivy made sure to say goodbye before her shift was over and wish me luck. That night my angel Ivy came back in. There was now a chance I had to go to surgery in the morning. This day was the first day I could eat in 2 days and now I was going to be cut off from food at midnight. Ivy made sure I had whatever I wanted before then. She prepped me for surgery by putting my IVs in. Because of her ability to read people, she knew how anxious I was. In hindsight, she took her time prepping me to calm me down. She spent serious quality time talking about family and laughing. She stayed until she knew I was ok. And again, knowing Ivy was there watching over me, I knew I was safe. She had become my friend. She made me feel safe. She knew immediately when I was upset or anxious and was there to put me at ease.
