Ivy Tejano, BSN, RN

As a core charge nurse, Ivy is responsible for not only the flow/throughput of the department but also the general welfare of the staff and patients within the department. The emergency department can be a challenging place to work due to the nature of the care being provided and the patient population being served. Despite some of the challenges and hurdles, I have witnessed Ivy show up each day with an optimistic attitude, ready to lead the team with her calm demeanor. In the role of charge nurse, Ivy collaborates with the bedside nurse and physician team to facilitate providing interventions in a timely manner. Not only does she advocate for the safety of our staff but also our patients and will assist with involving family members when appropriate. Ivy goes above and beyond to do what is needed for the team and our patients. Ivy is a wealth of knowledge and offers to share her knowledge as a preceptor to our new nurses joining the emergency department team. It is Ivy's caring and compassionate demeanor that provides a welcoming environment to all who are around her. And I know that to be true because I received a warm welcome from her as a new member of the team. She is recognized as a great resource with a willingness to help others. Ivy demonstrates her willingness to provide exemplary patient care by going the extra mile and meeting the patient (or family) where they are…she actively listens and supports each patient as an individual; she communicates efficiently to the staff and promptly addresses each concern with the utmost respect. Ivy is a hard-working member of the West Bank Adult Emergency Department team, and we are extremely fortunate to work alongside her.​
