She takes the time to ask her patients questions and tech them what she can/what they need to know about their care and she doesn’t rush through it – she makes sure they get it.
Izzy is fantastic! She was admitting a patient who was reportedly being violent and assaulting staff downstairs. When the patient was admitted to the floor, they were agitated and upset, but Izzy was calm and respectful and did her best to respond to their immediate wishes and needs. The patient was in turn kind to the floor staff and caused little to no issue. This is just one example, but Izzy is wonderful because she is so great with everyone. No matter the patient/situation she walks into she is always respectful and kind and her patients always show appreciation of that. She takes the time to ask her patients questions and tech them what she can/what they need to know about their care and she doesn’t rush through it – she makes sure they get it. Izzy has a great rapport with her coworkers. Everyone around her has nothing but great things to say about her and she gets along with everyone (nurses, aides, doctors, RT, etc). Lastly, Izzy has been a fantastic instructor, as I have been the nursing student assigned to her recently. It is not uncommon for nurses to dislike having students because giving care takes a bit longer with us and there is teaching involved throughout the day. Izzy has literally been the best. She asks me what I know, explains things to me that I don’t understand, and has expressed her gratitude in having me around, which virtually never happens. So to be thanked for going through school and for being available and helpful really meant a lot to me. I’ve been in school 3 years and no one has ever expressed appreciation of me being around until Izzy did. She is 100% deserving of being recognized with a DAISY Award.
