Izumi went to the floor to pick up the Patient herself knowing that a further delay would cause a huge domino effect with the sick children needing care in ORs.
Izumi provided phenomenal PT care coordination! She went above and beyond to help not only the kids scheduled for urgent add-on MRIs but also all the kids needing surgery in the ORs as well. It was a busy Saturday in MRI with 5 urgent add-on cases and I was due to be in the OR at 1 pm for more urgent cases. We were able to get the first 2 scans without hiccups, but the 3rd was undergoing an EEG, so Izumi put in for a STAT transport on our 4th in order to keep being efficient.
When that patient arrived, we learned that he did not have X-rays sent from the other hospital and needed those completed first. While we now had to wait for Patient 4, we went back to Patient 5 (EEG was complete) and got this scan done. Shortly after it was learned that Patient 4 needed a trip to the OR following his MRI so he would now have to go last to coordinate with OR. Patient 5 was ready, but there was no available transport in the hospital. Izumi went to the floor to pick up the Patient herself knowing that a further delay would cause a huge domino effect with the sick children needing care in ORs. With all the hiccups, Izumi changed what would have been a 10-hour day (and therefore a 5-hour delay in the ORs) into a 1-hour delay so all the kids scheduled for procedures/surgery could get done in a reasonable time and on the path to healing. Thank you Izumi for your excellent care coordination! We couldn’t have been so efficient without you!
