A patient who recently delivered at our hospital was having breastfeeding issues and tried to get help from different places but to no avail. She contacted our nursery and Jackie asked her to come in and she would work with her and see what she could help her with. Jackie worked with the patient several times and also did before and after weights to assure the mother the baby was getting enough. During the visits, Jackie recognized that the baby was having attachment issues and discussed it with a pediatrician. After the conversation, Jackie searched for a speech therapist to assist the mother with the mouth and attachment issue. The patient and baby have been through a lot, but are improving every day. The patient continues to reach out to Jackie and update her on their progress.
