The OR is never delayed because Jackie always gets the work done, no matter the load.
Jackie Jenkins works every Saturday and Sunday in Pre-Op Holding. Some surgeons have blocks on Saturdays and Jackie receives all of the patients at once and does the job herself. No matter how many patients show up at one time, they are each greeted courteously and professionally. Jackie explains the preoperative procedure, starts their IVs, draws any needed labs, answers the patient and their family's questions, and deals with the temperament of the fast-paced OR.
Often, patients are waiting in OR Holding for her to help them get ready for their procedure, and she sees to each and every one of them with speed and professionalism and a smile on her face. The OR is never delayed because Jackie always gets the work done, no matter the load. She deals with many difficult surgeons and communication issues.
Jackie attends to every patient and their families, and she does it all (usually) by herself. They often remember her fondly when they fill out their patient satisfaction surveys, she is a force to be reckoned with - a hard worker, compassionate, efficient, and pleasant.
