Jackie reached out on social media to ask if anyone had old iPads or tablets they were no longer using that they would be willing to donate to support the much-needed interaction between patients and families.
During the COVID-19 surge, visitors were not allowed for any patient. This was very difficult and stressful for both patients and their family members. Some of our nurses would use their personal cell phones to facilitate FaceTime or other video calls to ease this stress. However, nurses were worried that family members would then have their personal contact information. Jackie reached out on social media to ask if anyone had old iPads or tablets they were no longer using that they would be willing to donate to support the much-needed interaction between patients and families. Jackie was able to collect three devices that she then reset and created generic IDs in order to continue offering this great service to patients without them gaining any of our employees' personal information. This was a very comforting and caring alternative to in-person visiting during a stressful and scary time for everyone. This is just one small example of how Jackie makes a huge difference in the lives of patients who she, directly and indirectly, cares for. She is extraordinary!
