Jackie is such a calm, warm, and inviting soul. She will take the time to stop and talk to patients and their families about anything, not only their hospital stay. It was so comforting at some of the scariest parts of my and my daughter's hospital stay to be distracted by her ability to make everyone feel like a lifelong friend. Her care would have been proof enough that she deserves a DAISY Award, however, she went above and beyond on a specific occasion that I will never forget.

My husband and I had planned on taking our daughter home on the 6th day of our hospitalization, but we hit a roadblock when her bilirubin levels had spiked, and my daughter had to stay in the hospital. At this time, it seems like such a minor inconvenience to ensure my daughters health but at the time I was devastated. All I wanted was to bring my baby home to start our lives together. Jackie stumbled across my husband and I in the hallway of the unit, my face, and eyes reddened and streaked with tears. She gave me a hug that healed a small piece of my heart and shared her own personal experience with this heartbreak.

The next day I had flowers delivered to my hospital room. I figured these flowers had come from a family member or friend. Upon reading the card I was so caught off guard to discover the flowers had come from Jackie. A small token that meant the world to me and my family. She gave me the strength to stay positive, and I was so happy to carry those flowers out of the hospital that day when we were discharged. I could go on for forever about her dedication to her patients, but I will just conclude with anyone would be lucky to be under her care. Thank you we are forever grateful.
