Jacklyn has made all the difference in our time in the Cardiac ICU at Dell Children’s. We ended up here very unexpectedly after our 9-month-old son was diagnosed with a rare congenital heart defect. From the first time she was L’s nurse, she was so calm and reassuring with me, my husband, and our son. Her demeanor is just so gentle and kind. She cares for our son like a family member and is thrilled to see him progress just like he was her own.

Anytime we come in to see Jacklyn’s name on the board next to our son’s, meaning that she’s our nurse for the day again, we are thrilled and know it will be a fantastic day with her, no matter what difficulties or worries we are facing. She balances doing her different tasks and duties as a nurse, and being friendly and engaged with us so well. Jacklyn is always offering to help us in any way she can, and we know it's from a place of a true servant's heart. She makes sure we are doing well mentally and emotionally and offers support whenever we need it.

Even when she is not assigned to L for the day, she is genuinely eager to hear how he is doing, always celebrating the wins and encouraging us in the hard moments. When we don't understand a certain medical term, she explains it thoroughly and has even gone out of her way to print documents to help us become more involved and informed about our son’s care. Best of all, her presence just feels like having a good friend around, who also happens to be caring for our son in many ways we aren’t able to. And she excels at it! It makes us feel all the more strongly that we are in the best hands here. Jacklyn's considerate, thoughtful, and sweet spirit makes her an incredible nurse. We have loved getting to know her and have made a friendship that will go beyond our time here. We can’t wait to tell our son all about how wonderfully well she took care of him.
