Jaclyn went above and beyond her job duties to make sure her patient had a great experience at UMC. Each year, National Lemonade Day is observed on the first Sunday in May, when youth around the country take to the streets of their communities to open their Lemonade stands, and put the business skills they have learned into practice. The goal of Lemonade Day is to give children of all socio-economic backgrounds, in all neighborhoods, the opportunity to start their own business and learn how to make money where they are encouraged to spend a little, save a little and share a little.

This year, Conner, a 5 year old with Type I Diabetes had a goal to sell lemonade and support the Juvenile Diabetes Foundation. Unfortunately, Connor was hospitalized and would not be able to set up his stand and sell his lemonade. Jaclyn, Connor's nurse that day, decided that Connor should be able to attain his goal even if he was in the hospital. Jaclyn purchased lemonade in the cafeteria and brought it to Connor. She asked all the staff to go to Connor's room and purchase some lemonade. By this small gesture, Jaclyn was able to help this little boy keep his promise to give back to an organization that works towards finding a cure for his illness. Jaclyn has a heart of Gold. She is a living testament to how service, even on lemonade day, is our passion at UMC.

This is just one example of how Jaclyn goes above and beyond for her patients and their families every day. She is a shining example of compassion.
