A patient was admitted to our unit for over a month with severe dementia and behavioral disturbances. She has had aggressive tendencies stemming from concern over her precious cat. After her husband passed, this cat has provided immense emotional support. Though many team members tried to reassure her about the cat’s safety, she was easily agitated about its well-being.

Jacob and another nurse took the initiative on their day off to find her a life-like stuffed cat. This brought the patient immediate joy and relieved her anxiety. She is no longer aggressive with staff, but smiles and proudly shows us her kitty. The entire staff has witnessed a complete change in her apparent quality of stay.
