A patient Jacob was caring for recently expressed to him that he was concerned that his dog had been left uncared for since the patient was picked up by EMS. The Vet had no friends or family in the area, and he had given his keys to a deputy in hopes the dog could be cared for in a temporary shelter. Jacob showed integrity by quickly springing into action and contacting the local police station, the deputy who respond to the EMS call and the patient’s landlord. He organized the lines of communication between all parties, who realized the dog had been left unattended for almost 3 days. Due to Jacob’s consistent efforts, the dog was able to be picked up and provided care until the patient went home. Jacob’s compassion and commitment provide his patient with the ease of mind needed to continue his healing.
