Jacob McCullar assumed the responsibility of a 28-year-old patient who had arrested and passed away. The patient's mother flew in from NYC and did not know her daughter had died until she arrived at the hospital. Jacob stood at the hospital entrance, waited for the mom to arrive, and escorted her to the ICU. He had to tell her about the death and handled her horrific grief with grace. When she could not bear to let the body go to the funeral home, he talked with her and did all she asked. He bathed the patient, redressed her, and made all concessions to help the mom. He had the funeral home wait until the mom could handle her daughter being moved.
