Where do I start? My boyfriend had a heart attack around 2 am and was rushed from Allegheny Valley to West Penn (the scariest few hours of my life). He arrived just as the shift was starting to change, and that's when we met our assigned nurse.
We were both physically, mentally, and emotionally exhausted and scared to death. Jacob Moore was our calm in our storm. He reminded us numerous times that he's got us and that we were going to be okay. Any time the monitor went off, he was right there to not only address the issue, but he sat and explained to us why the monitor was going off and what it meant each and every time. He took my hands and demonstrated the heart to both of us so that we could better understand.
His knowledge and his skills were like nothing I've ever seen from a nurse before. Jacob was passionate about his job, and it really showed. His confidence put us both at ease. He'll probably tell you he was just doing his job, but he was doing much more than that. He might not realize it, but he was our rock for those first 12 hours after the heart attack. He was the calm in our storm. He had us, held us, and we felt his presence, the security that accompanied it, and the strength he provided in what was a dark and scary time for us. He was not only concerned about my boyfriend; he was concerned about me and how I was doing. He was a blessing in disguise, and one that we needed more than he even knew. We cannot thank Jacob enough for getting us through this difficult time, and we will forever be grateful for all he did.
